Ohms... what do I want?
I debated whether to put this in Audio or Newbie... but here goes:
I'm buying subs for my lancer and I need to choose between 4 ohm subs and 8 ohm subs. I have no idea what ohms are, or how they effect quality of sound. Can someone please give me a general overview of what ohms are, which option I should pick, and why?
Thanks!

Ohms is the resistance, and with something like subs and amps, lower resistance means more power put into the subs. they don't effect sound quality, it basically changes how much power the amp will put into the sub.
to decide, u'd have to look at the amp first, see how much power it puts out at a certain resistance and see what u want.
usually 4 ohms is the max recommended resistance so probably 4 ohms..but if u want more than 1 sub, say 2, then to keep the 4 ohms, u'd have to buy 2 subs with a 4 ohm DVC (dual voice coil) and set it up parallel to each other..there's lots of place online that'll explain this more in depth, but here's one place:

hope i didnt confuse you
good luck and just ask if u have more questions!
