Video guages
I'm planning on getting an alpine/kenwood/etc head unit with one of those flip screens. I was wondering if any company makes modules that display guages and stats on a video screen via an aux input. I know I've seen these in show skylines. It would be really sweet, and high tech looking to push the button and have my screen open up displaying boost stats, fuel, etc. Heheh.....
HKS makes a product called the CAMP that might fit the bill
heres are a few links to sites selling the CAMP/CAMP links:

Yeah, im planning on doing this also. The CAMP is the only system that doesnt require it's own special monitor. What I'm going to attempt is putting a 4" LCD facing up on the dash with the horizontal flip activated, boucing off a smoked tint patch on the windshiedl, making a HUD that can display any info the CAMP can, along with maybe a rear view cam or something if I get really creative w/ it.

Talk about intricate.
Well, I'd be impressed to see a job even half as intricate. I'll stick to old fashioned gauges myself. I'm assuming there's no way to make these displays take a reading from anything other than ECU pinouts? is it feasible to have things like EGT/AFR or boost pressure running off their own sensors with a display like that? Especially for important readings like those it seems to me the best way is to use their own sensors rather than using the stock sensor's readings.
greddy's PRofec e-01 i think does what you want, this is what i'm planning on getting when i go turbo... it will connect to greddys piggy back ecu as well, which means anything their ecu can pick up or control can be displayed on this. but i think the price may be a lil high at 680. but you get what you pay for. heres the link so you can check it out more.

I do know you can run a Diagnostic application on a low-end pentium PC hooked up to the display.. www.scantool.net makes one that interfaces with OBD2, however the software that exists for it is fairly rudimentary.. a clever programmer (myself included) could make up something cool.. I did notice that if you go that route, the refresh of the data is at the mercy of the speed of the serial connection to the ECU, and data doesnt seem to update at a very high rate. But information such as Intake temp, boost/vacuum (MAP), RPM, Coolant Temp, Throttle position, load %, etc, are all available info.. I do have a scan tool now, and I'll hook it up as soon as my EVO arrives to see what info is available.
let me add that if your wondering how you'd run a small PC in a car.. I can build a machine that uses flash memory, and is about the size of a portable CD Player.. Technically if you get the right kind of computer, you can also run an MP3 player, DVD/DIVX, radio/TV Tuner, **And** GPS navigation.. probably in a computer small enough to hide in the map pocket of your EVO..

Just want to let you guys know, the 286 is just for the camp system, which displays only rpm and speeds.. you need a "junction" box, 395 new, and the harness for boost sensor, boost sensor, temp harness and temp sensor... total around 1.2k you can display boost, temp EGT etc on your LCD.
