Connecting subwoofer

I am figuring out a way to get more power out of my subwoofer.

I currently have a 12" Infinity Reference Sub and an 800w Infinity Reference Amp.

The amp is 6 channel and I have 4 speakers and the sub hooked to it. I am bridging the 2 channels to 1 to just run the 1 subwoofer.

But the thing is the sub is a dual voice coil. The amp can run a 4ohm sub when bridged which I am doing and the sub is also 4 ohm, but since it is DVC, should I run it in a parallel wiring to lower the impedance down to 2 ohm, or does it not matter since the amp can power at 4 ohm load?

Which is what I am asking since it can hold a 4ohm would it matter if I run the sub at 4 ohm or 2ohm? Would 2 ohm be any better?

I am assuming that it is a dual 4 ohm sub right?

It all depends on if that amp is 2 ohm stable. Which, when it is bridged you are running the sub in series at 8 ohms and the amp has the max power at 4 ohms.

So you would be best to drive the sub at 2 ohm mono, the only problem is that the infinity amp probably isnt stable at 2 ohm. I would get a mono sub amp, that is stable to 2 ohm. They are pretty easy to find..

Thanks for the help. Yeah I'm not sure if it is 2 ohm stable, probably not. So I will just leave it how it is for right now.

If its a dual voice coil sub and it it wired to 4ohms now, then if you change the wiring it will be 1ohm not 2.

if it is a dual voice coil at 4 ohms each and you wire it in parallel, the load will be 2 ohms.

I could have misinterpreted what was said earlier.

With 1sub:
dual 2ohm VCs = final load of 1 or 4ohm
dual 4ohm VCs = final load of 2 or 8ohm

just to clear it all up
