yea its handy to have some tech sheets......

wires you dont need on the 791 (if i can remember on top of my head)

domelight output
all 200ma validity outputs
ground when armed wire
status defogger
2nd ignition and 2nd starter
all multi channel wires you dont need
factory re-arm
factory dis-arm (needed if you have factory alarm, if there is one?)

hope this helps as well........remember to ground the neutral safefy switch or the remote start will not work.

also dont bother hooking up the tach sense wire........program the remote start to learn by voltage (look in the manual, its easy). set the crank to 1 full second and your good.

What is status defogger? If I want the alarm to trigger my rear defroster how would I do that? Would I need an additional module?

Right now I am leaning toward getting the autopage 855 system...I can get it for $150 shipped on ebay. Also does our car need any kind of bypass?

Some people have mentioned that for some cars you have to have a 2nd key in the ignition otherwise the car won't start...thanks

umm no, definatly hook up the tach wire. I would never and have never installed ANY remote start via voltage sense. Ths is why all remote starts will come with the preset setting on tach....

The only bypass needed is on the EVO
the bypass get around a security transponder in the key, a tech explained an easy way to tell if you have one is if your car came with an all metal spare key, you don't have a transponder key. If you can have an all metal spare key made you have no transponder key either.

the neutral safety switch is desinged so that the car can only be started in park/neutral on an automatic. technically, well here in california anyway, it is illegal to have a remote start on manual transmission. (some people park there car in gear, so the car can jolt foward when remote started)

the neutral safety switch would like to see a ground. (making the alarm think its in park/neutral).

regardless if you have a auto or manual, just ground that wire. but be warned, if you have a manual, dont leave your car in gear when parked and remote start your car, it will jolt foward.

that is most likely why it didnt start. its a black and white wire i believe. the wire should come from main module/brain. just ground it to the chassis of your car.

yes, your suppose to leave your manual trans in neutral to "SAFELY" remote start your car.

as far as the remote defroster, your going to have to tap the switch which activates it from your climate controls. once tapped, your going to need to program it to the alarm i believe. if you cant find out how to program it, you should be able to go to most installation centers who sell the viper alarm and use there "bitwriter". the bitwriter is a handheld device which can automatically program on/off all the accessories you like on your alarm. its simple plug and play.

im assuming from the car you mean...........im not sure exactly what the color of the wire is.....but if you test the harness to the climate controls you should be able to find it.

when the defroster button is pressed (usually on most cars) it will send a
.2-.3amp output then rest at ground. so try testing for that.

im sorry, but this is one thing i've never hooked up on my evo......but as soon as i do, i'll let you know which wire it is.

I know this is an old thread, but did you ever figure out which wire to tap for the defroster? Thanks!
