Screwing up an alarm system can cause a lot of problems though. They charge that much to install that for a reason; its a few notches above installing a headunit on the difficulty meter.

I hate discouraging the DIY spirt, but that isn't the simplest alarm, and not the one you really wanna try and learn on.

Yo Boss! take it to a shop and have them do it. I have seen people burn their cars to the ground installin anything from an alarm wrong to an xm radio. If you havent done it before, let someone do it. plus they usually offer a life time warranty on the labor.

exactly...250 is nothing when you fry unknown things that cost a lot more than that to fix...

i used to work at circuit, and helped out a lot in the roadshop, im confortable enough to install a head unit and speakers without a problem. i helped install a few alarms and mobile video...

alarms are not the easiet thing to do if you dont have tech tips(CC roadshops communicate about installs and how things go and where they go) and you havent done a few under your belt...i would say take your $200 and get it installed

the VIPER 791 is not a hard alarm to install. its certain cars that makes them hard. first of all, the lancer/EVO is a real easy car to install an alarm on.

Prep the alarm first:
cut all the wires you dont need (theres quite a few) and tape up.

identify/test your wires w/ a volt meter
-heads-up, your doortrigger and power lock/unlock are a negetive (-) pulse
- all your 12v, accessory, ignition, starter wire is easily accessable from your fuse box, just follow where it runs from your steering column.
- your door trigger, power lock/unlock is located at one of the white plugs at the bottom of the fuse box.
- for your breakwire, look at your break light bulb wiring, once you identify it, pull off your side panel trim and tap from there
-if its a manual transmission, just ground the neutral safety switch to a good ground anywhere.

if you use T-Taps it would be a lot faster tapping to.

hope that helps, let me know if you have any other q's

yeah man dont do it yourself. i just put the pager remote start in my car and it took about 4 hours. Not fun at all. a whole lot of splicing and soldering. YOu are gonna regret it in the end when your car wont start just cuz you put it in wrong. then your gonna have to pay more than regular install price to trouble shoot and get your car running again and the alarm put in. take it to a shop. best buy does em for like 120 bucks.

The Best Buys around here do em for 240 bucks, so if you can find one that does it for 120 bucks (assuming your not an employee), JUMP on that deal.

thanks, for reminding me

you WILL need to bypass the clutch in order for the remote start to function if its for a manual trans.

unplugging/bypassing/relay.......however you want to do it.

let us know how it goes...what wires should we not worry about?

what about remote start and where do you place the modules?

how about running the antennae for remotes?

what about LED and horn?
