stupid radio
i have the stock radio in my car but when i turn it up past 40 its cuts out. i have to turn the radio on and off to play the music again. i had a blown speaker covered under warranty after they fixed it thats when i started having the problem. i then thought it was the speaker so i went out and bought new rear speakers the alpine type r speakers and it still does it. need to know what can fix this and does anyone else have this problem?

I've always used 40 as my limit, mainly cause anything over that started sounding distorted anyways. but i did go over that and it never happened. But i just replaced the HU cause they are pretty cheap and easy to install.

yeah i checked the back speakers they are good no loose wires. it was weird casue before my back left speaker blew everything was fine and then the speaker blew and i had mitsubishi replace it and now the radio is ****ed up. so i thought it was cuase of the way they install the stock speaker so i bought my own and now that those are in the aftermarket ones i know mitsu is gay enough to blame the radio not working due to aftermarket speakers so i am no even going to bother with mitsu and i want to fix it myself any ideas please let me know

yeah, don'ttake it to mitsu and ask them to fix it. Do you have the bass and all that turned up? Cause they will blame it on you and say that you shouldn't have it up that loud anyways. I took mine in to have them check the passenger door speaker cause it sounded kinda fuzzy sometimes, and they did and actually got mad at me cause they said i had the trebble and bass and all turned up all the way. And they still didn't fix it. But those f---ers got bought out by a Kia dealer.
It is hard to say without putting a meter on the radio when it cuts out. It could be a couple of things. I would get /use a multimeter and test the ign, constant, and ground when it cuts out and see what it does...
chances are that the factory hu is getting put into protection by the outputs being shorted when the speakers distort and bottom out. Try turning the bass all the way down and see if the unit allows you to turn it up louder.
