just wondering if there are 3 preouts for the sound sun and leather evo head unit (infinity) thanks in advance

I believe the sun & sound is identical in both the evo and regular lancer, and if you're asking if the stock hu has three pre-amp outputs then no, it has none, just a big fat din cable with all speaker/amp wires in it leading to the factory amp. If you want to put an aftermarket hu in it, then yes you can, just pick up an adapter, Soundgate makes one for around $24.

No stock radio has any preouts of any sort...

no preouts on that radio, if your building up your stereo, that hu isnt even worth it. get a new one!

 

and yes, there is an adapter if you wanted, its called a line output converter, creates the signal from your speakers to rcas, try to get them online, a lot cheaper, or best buy/ circuit/ tweeter carries them for like $25. and you will loose a lot of quality

 

I would defenitely just buy a new hu. I have used those signal converters, and the sound quality is just terrible. Very very muddy sound.

 

output converters are going to reflect the quality of the product. You get what you pay for. I have anything from a 20.00 output converter to a 100.00.....

 

Here's a solution...buy a new head unit but use the stock amp/speaker set up. If you find a PAC audio OEM 2 interface...they sell them on Ebay but I would use a specific company online. Here is the link to description of the product:

You use the interface between the factory wiring and the aftermarket head unit and the RCA's plug into the F and R outputs on the head unit. I would recommend using a head unit with 3 outputs, makes adding a sub simple. This way, you don't have to change out all the components, too.

My buddy did this on his 2004 Lancer Ralliart and it sounds GREAT now with factory speakers.
