HU and Amp Setting?

hi gurus! needs some help from you guys! well, i just replaced my oem HU from JVC KD-DV500 DVD player. it was installed by one technician here. My amp is KAC8401 Kenwood 640 watts. I have 2 x 10" subs at 200 watts each. front speaker - pioneer 180 watts and a pioneer dome tweeter with crossover. rear speaker - stock.

At first, my subs were connected to amp only (bridged). so my rear and my front speaker were connected to HU.

it was running perfect until i tried to connect the front speaker to the amp since it is a 4 ch. pls correct if i have done something wrong... i put the subs to B channel and connected the front speaker to A channel. wiring of front speaker...i cut the wire of front speaker from the harness located at the foot rest, both sides L&R, and connected the new wire coming from amplifier. Sounds is great but i noticed that the rear speaker are not working at all. what would be the problem? is there anything wrong with the wirings from original HU harness to JVC? why it was running perfetcly before i connected the front speaker to the amp? was my speaker matched with present settings, i.e. sep watts vs. amp watts vs. subs watts? please help before i spend money for those technicians if i can solve it myself...TIA!!!

Its tough for me to diagnose things without seeing it all. but what wires did you cut, you said you cut the wire from the harness? what colors did you use? white and gray i hope. well that is if its off the mitsubishi female harness. Check the settings in your headunit, if i am remembering right you have 3 RCA outs, but its front rear and output for video. And you should have 2 sets of rca's running from amp to HU If anything check the setting to see if you have "front & rear" on. if so, you want "front & sub". Thats the only thing i could think of. because if you have front and rear on. most time it shuts off power and signal to the speaker wires from that harness. Double check your wiring.

thanks ms. sara for your response... well, i cut the wires not from the HU harness but from the one located on the foot side, where all the wires coming from all connections. this wires were the one connected to the front speaker, i cut it there because i dont like to open and remove the things from the door panel. so the wire from the amp will go directly to the front speaker.

before i connected the front speaker to the amps, it was working fine both front, rear, amps and subs. i dont figure it out why the rear was not working whereas i cut only the wire from the front speaker to connect from the amps. HU setting for rear was always on. same connections / settings for both amps and hu before i cut the wires.

i have doubt that the technician do some parallel / series connection to both speakers. if i want to double check the wirings from oem HU harness, how could i do it? do you have any color coding diagrams for the wires so i can distinguish the right wires to connect to JVC HU..? again...TIA!

well the wiring diagram for your car goes as follows:
Item Wire Color
LF Speaker +/- red/white - red/blue
RF Speaker +/- red - green
LR Speaker +/- white/blue - yellow/red
RR Speaker +/- lt. green - yellow/green

those are coming from the harness, so check and see if they change at all, check your wires!

Well I have 2 sets of monster cable rcas 1-2channel, 1-4channel. works beautifully!

thanks a lot guys...from the diagram, now i know if the wiring were properly connected. i just asked the same question to the guy who installed this, and you know what? he told me that he connected both front and rear from front speaker wiring. my golly! so i dont have any options but to check it my self... sometimes, there's no other way of helping yourself without getting any help from others first! thanks a lot once more...now i know what to do!
