Depends really...

If you're a sports nut, definitely go with Sirius.
- as of the new year Sirius will have basketball, football, nascar, and hockey.
- Howard Stern (live and uncut) and Martha Stewart's channel will be on Sirius as of next year too.
- the only sport that XM will have as of next year is baseball.
- XM will have more talk radio/entertainment channels than Sirius also.

Overall, i like sirius. Their units are a little more appealing to the eye too. As well as functionally and overall bells and whistles you can do with the units. The channel selection is very broad; they have just the right amount of all music/talk/entertainment/sports channels to fit anyone's taste.

We have XM at work and I have Sirius in my Durango (which reminds me, I need to upgrade the stereo in my EVO still!). Being that I listen to both everyday, IMHO Sirius is way better!

The hosts of the stations on Sirius are much better.
The have hired all the original MTV VJ's to host the 80's Pop/Rock Station. Eminem has a station for hip-hop.
Sirius Music Programming
As of '06, Howard Stern will be lighting up the airwaves on Sirius.
Like Football? Sirius has the exclusive rights to all NFL games to broadcast on Satellite. Plus you get to listen to the home announcer of your favorite team.
XM has Baseball. Listening to baseball on radio is as exciting as watching grass grow.

Sirius Compare
XM Compare

Look it over...

I just got sirius. NBA, EPL, Stern, 17 rock stations... that's good enough for me

I have sirius in my WRX and had listened to XM for a little bit in the store. I have heard that Sirius gets better reception too, because they have three satelites and XM has only 1. As for stations I like Sirius better (although they need a punk/ska only station and 1 more dance/trance station like they had in the begining). XM has more listeners, but I think Sirius is better set to grow and grow fast.

I prefer XM...but all in all...they are pretty much the same thing...I dont know if the sirius has it but I know on XM you can listen to any station online....which is sweet...another thing is that certain headunits are setup for sirius...some for XM so that may be a deciding factor for you as well.

all in all they are pretty much the same as far as music programming. You can listen to Sirius online too, and also another cool thing is you can buy a lifetime contract (transferrable to 3 units) for basically the price of 3-4 years. Also, another great thing (for both) is head units are starting to come out as "Sat. Ready" for either service on the same headunit (instead of just "XM ready" or "sirius ready" only)
