distortion
i just installed a pair of 4" pioneer carrozzeria TS-E1075 replacing old old pioneer tweeters. I have another pair of 6.5" Infinity Reference 625i 2-way speakers installed also. Now after replacing the old pioneer tweeters with the new TS-E1075, there's a lot of distortion at mid to high volume levels. This didnt happen with the the old pioneer tweeters.
now, the old pioneer tweeters had a max wattage of 25w and the new one has a max of 100w. could it just be that the headunit doesnt have enough power going into both speakers? or did i install bass blockers wrong on the tweeters? im leaning towards the lack of amplification, but can anyone confirm that?
thanks!
-Bob
P.S. This setup isnt in the Lancer, and I used new wires for every speaker.

2 way components? do you have a crossover? bass blockers only block bass (as the name says), so the tweeters need to only reproduce treble, which means cutting out bass, mid-bass, and mid-range. tweeter crossover (depending on the tweeter) should be around 1kHz for a 1" titanium dome. underpowering doesn't cause distortion, but if you are turning your volume up to around max level the power amp will start to clip causing distortion. maybe you notice it more with these tweeters.
EDIT: of course, if you have compression drivers/horns, this gets thrown out the window.

yea these cheap *** bass blockers are blocking out 300hz and lower. now if i get some money, i'll get crossovers but for now, these bass blockers should do..there's a chance i could've mixed up the + with the - but im gonna check all the wiring when i get my amp anyways.
but my guess is the bad headunit amplification. thanks for your concern
