Question Decent Amp For A Conservative Budget

I got 2 10'' MTX 5000 thunder Subs. I think the max is 500w each, what would be a decent amp for them to be powered?
it will be setup like ryancb's car with 2 seperate sealed boxes

If I'm not mistaken those subs handle about 350watts RMS, which is what you should worry about, not so much the max output.. so any amp that you can bridge to rougly 700 or under should handle it rather well without blowing out your voice coils

I can sell you a perfect RF 500watt amp. It is two channel. That thing will bump those MTX's nicely. I want to get a JL amp to match the rest of my setup, plus my JL speakers can handle ALOT more then that RF 500.

JBL BP600.1 fits the bill

www.iksound.com has them for $195, free shipping.

I really like the JBL amps, they offer solid power and great output for a reasonable price. I'm running a pair of the 1200.1's and I've not had a single problem with them in the past year+

actually, look into an MTX amp. if ya don't rag it to death, makes good power, though I think that kicker is a better amp than MTX. that JBL is heavy, a lighter, more effecient amp would be better from a weight perspective, perhaps an audiobahn? they have integrated crossovers, cooling fans, come in odd colors, make decent power for cheap.

there's no such thing

heavier usually means more effecient. not ALWAYS, but the heavier amps are the better ones, as a general rule. same with speakers, the heavier the magnet the better.

as everyone knows i'm a BIG fan of phoenix gold amps.

Ooh, all great selling points
Not trying to hate but Seige didn't mention needing "bells and whistles" which is what all of those are.

Sure, they might look pretty on a spec sheet, but integrate XO's have a tendancy to color signal (read: BAD) Cooling fans are a great source of electrical noise, and odd colors... why the hell do you want odd colors? A can of spraypaint will make any amp any color you want. (shield the important bits, just paint the heatsink and panels.)

When shopping for an amp, shop for an amp. Something that takes signal in one side, amplifies it, and pushes it out the other. Handle signal processing with a processor, cooling with a heatsink, and color with a colorificizier.... you know what I mean. It might cost a little more in the short game, but you'll be much happier in the long run.

my theory on audio/visual exactly. components are the way to go. each device does it's own specific job.

i will NEVER buy one of those TVCRs.
