In Car Neons

OK Im sure that you all have seen the neon kits they have at walmart and autozone, they look cool, and are reasonably cheap. But I hate having wires running all over and into the cigarette lighter. Is there anyway I can hardwire the power source through the cigarette lighter, that way no wires will be showing

you can tap into any 12V source in your car.

yeah

yeah i ran a separate wire into the car from the battery thru the firewall .. i put an inline fuse in it just to be safe then cut the cigarett lighter adapter off of the neon connected the red or redstriped wire to the wire from teh battery and connected the negative wire to a ground ..there's plenty of space under the radio and dash to find a decent ground if i wouldnt have lost my digital camera i'd show you pics of my install

just tie it to your cig lighter under the dash, i have my radar dect., 12 LED's, and 3 neons. wired to the same source. plus im still able to plug in my 1,000,000 candle power spotlight and not have problems.

Hey I just got done installing mine, I ran it to a switch then to my audio amp in the trunk, easy and quick, now all I have to do is flip a switch to turn the lights on, and no wires to see, will submit pics later.

Thanks for noticing. I ripped out the neon spots and other crap wayyyy back before CAL SLAM Stage I. Now it's just the four clip claps and one big neon on the center console over my head unit... Oh yeah, kill switch for when CHP run my plates @ night.

Hey about the neon connections, to minimize all the cigarette lighters into one source you can wire them together and hook it up to one cigarette lighter thingy, but you cant put too many on one lighter cuz the resistance is measured and can burn out often. i kept it to 3 per lighter. i have 6 neon lights, one radar detector all hooked up behind the cubby hole in my dash, it was a perfect place to put all the wiring.
