cigarette lighter charger not working

My cigarette lighter charger in my Evo IX is not working anymore. The thing I can think of that caused it not to work was the cell phone charger I was using. I pulled the cell phone charger out and the thing just busted open into like 20 different pieces (crappy China made accessory).

Since then, I tried using another phone charger or portable lamp in my car but the cigarette lighter charger does not work. Is it a blown fuse somewhere?

it might also be a clue to stop smoking, think about the money spent on them and what you could have done with the money for your car.

I have the same problem because I hooked up my boost gauge and QTP cutout switch to the cig lighter and the QTP switch messed it up because I didn't have an inline fuse on it. I'd like to know where the fuse for the cig lighter is so I can replace it.

Reach in your glove box, and pull out your manual....

I dont smoke

I was using the cigarette charger to charge my cell phone and use a portable 1/2 million candlelight power lamp.

I would guess it's a blown fuse too....... check the 15A fuse in the under-dash fuse panel.

If it busted your charger into pieces your probably going to need to replace the whole unit. I did the same thing with a FM modulator. Good news is , the part is cheap and it's easy to replace. Here is the part:

Bringing this back from the dead....I don't have the manual and I've got the same issue where it doesn't work but the light around the ring also isn't on when the dash lights are on at night. Which fuse is it?

Different circuits, one accessory power, one lights, different fuses, check the connector between the chassis and the center console, directly below the cup holder.

/get a manual if you plan to do much, search around people have posted pdf versions or ebay it
