I am currently in the process of getting a new sound system for my car. The speakers i am looking at are Polk db6500 components in the front and Infinity 6012i in the rear deck both of which are 6.5" speakers. i am also going through crutchfield to purchase them. the question is do crutchfield's free speaker adapters/accessories work well with our car's OEM opening? thanks in advance

 

It seems like Crutchfield sends stuff that works. I got a deck from there, and they sent me everything I needed for installation. Everthing worked well...no problems. I would assume other items are the same? i.e. speakers?

 

One could only guess at this point... But some speakers have an adaptor in the box from the factory. Take my MB Quart components for example, the mid-ranges came with adaptors for OEM 6.5" openings (which always tend to run like 6.75).

 

from my knowledge infinity 6 1/2's come with 6 3/4 adapters, which will fit perfectly for our lancer. what i did personally was drilled holes in the steel of my door frame to mount the fronts. i believe the same will work well for the rears too.

 

You will receive the correct speaker adapters and the appropriate wiring harnesses if you get the speakers from Crutchfield. I am a technical advisor for crutchfield and we always give you everything you need.

 

142SAC656 is the bracket you will get and 12071035 is the part number for the wiring adapters. I would just put the crossovers in the doors and seal them up inside a bag with a dab of silicone to attach them and prevent them from moving around.
