1 Sub Hitting, 1 Not
1 Sub Hitting, 1 Not
Okay, So Heres The Deal. I Just Recently Reinstalled My System After It Sat In The Garage For A While. I Installed With 8 Guage Wiring A Rockford Fosgate Digital Cap, 2 1000 Watt Pyramid Hyper Pro Subs, And A 2000 Watt Legacy Amp. When I Was Installing The System I Noticed The Small Box On The Sub Box Itself That You Put The Wires Through (not A Car Audio Specialist, But Its The Things That You Have To Depress The Button And Then Release To Seal The Wires In) Is Loose. And It Is That Sub That Is Not Hitting At All. Could This Be The Problem. If So I Can Fix It. But I Am Trying To Get The Subs To Hit.
Thanks For Any And All Responses.

Also, if the terminal (black box with thingies that you depress) has screws on it, pull them out and remove the terminal. Check on the other side to ensure that both speaker wires are secure. The wires jump off all the time whe they are not secured properly.
The Caps Thing Is Because Im At Work And At The Dispatch Center We Have To Type In Caps. Lol. Sucks But Thats The Way It Is.
I Took The Sub Out And Checked The Bracket/harness/whatever Its Called, But Didnt See Anything Visibly Wrong With It Other Than Its Loose.
However I Did Notice That Sometimes When Im Driving My System Gets 10x Louder, Possibly The Sub Kicking In, Then Right Back Out After 5-10 Secs Or So.
So Maybe A Loose Wire In The Bracket, Or A Faulty Connection?

Yeah either a wire is loose or it may be touching another wire. Just start by tracing your speaker wire and making sure it isn't loose or touching anything and make sure it is hooked to your amp properly. If that doesn't solve your problem tjen trace all the wires.
are you getting any sound out of the sub... If so and it isnt hitting at all, check the polarity of the 2... Chances are you have positve to positive, negative to negative on one, and the other is swapped... Positive to negative and negative to positive...
Since it hits after a few seconds, Ill go with Rallioveru, and say to double over your wiring... Making sure nothing is shorting out with something else...
GOOD LUCK!!!

I'm serious about one being blown. I've got 2 old kicker xpl's in the garage. One hits the other only hits some of the time with the other one and never by itself. If you push on the cone you can feel the voice coil dragging a little. I think the one sub hitting gives it enough shake to unground the voice coil and hit a couple times.

I would definitely go back and re trace the wiring. After doing my first install I noticed I did one thing incorrectly and the whole system went haywire. Small oversights cause big headaches usually
Just the same I found that you can trace 75% of all anomolies back to ground problems.
I had two of the first RF Punch DVC 12's and only one voice coil in each sub would work at random. I traced it back to a weak ground connection, so I polished the frame on the car and used a 1" thick piece of copper wire that was 6" long and it eliminated all problems electrical, matter of fact I could run almost 2000 watts on a stock GM alternator.
Most of my post is babble, but try my fix for the ground wire, youd be surpised how much extra power you can get out of the subs.

Thanks For The Info Guys... But Now I Have A Worse Problem... Now The Other Sub Isnt Hitting Either. The Light Is On On The Amp And The Dig Cap Is Reading. But Im Not Getting Anything Out Of Either Sub... So Im Going To Investigate Tonight When I Get Off At 7pm. If You Have Any Suggestions B4 Then Im Open.
