Best location to mount amp?

I used to have a amp mounted to my back seat so when i folded the seats down it was right there. That amp was stolen. my new kicker 1200.1 is screwed to the back of the sub box along with the capataciatior. This setup was simple for the audio guys but ita makes very easy to steal, pick up the sub box and go. I have an alarm and stuff now but what would be a good spot to hide the amp or mount it to?

under the seat if you don't want it easily stolen.

I'm pretty sure the Kicker 1200 won't fit under the seat. It's a pretty hefty peice. If you don't mind a little custom fabrication, you could make a nice peice to hide it under the carpet above the spare tire. All you'd really need would be a box just a little bigger than the amp, a computer fan or 2 and a new spare tire cover (the ****ty one that comes with the car probably wouldn't support the weight) All of the fabrication work would be pretty easy to manage, new spare tire cover, just take the old one, trace it on a peice of plywood, and cut it out with a jigsaw. The box to house the amp/cap is just a few simple cuts and nails. The wiring on the fans couldn't get any easier (Red + Black -) And you'd be good to go. Hell, you could even make it showy with a bit of plexi.

All depends how far you want to get into it.

before i sold my system, it was proffessionally installed. They put the amps on a board, covered with the same material a speaker box is covered in, then they mounted the board to the back of my back seats, you can fold them up to hide them. Also when you put them under the seat its easier for them to get messed up like disconnected and stuff.

you could build an amp rack and keep it off to the side of your trunk like mine. works well for me.

In my old car my amp was mounted to the back of the back seat. Nice install I thought it was pretty safe. Could lock the back seat from folding down.

In my lancer it is under my passenger seat. Mounted all safe and hidden like.. fits perfect.

security screws huh? That sounds like a plan. Higgity i appreciate the spare tire idea i think i might have to do something like that. I might put the subs flush to the floor like that.

The only hang up with a spare well box is the fact that you'll probably have to lose the spare to accomidate the subs and their respective airspace. If you go with that idea I reccomend you make a little spot for 2 cans of "fix-a-flat" or a similar product. A great system is a wonderful thing, unfortunately it doesn't assist the car when you've got a flat. And though AAA might help, fix a flat beats waiting for the truck to come get ya.

Is your amp is small enough the best spot to mount it on the bottom of the rear deck. this will offer a full trunk and good air circulation for the cooling of the amp. it is also out of sight of all theifs. Just BE CAREFUL of the rear glass.
