stereo problem

I just switched out my stock stereo with a pioneer headunit, mtx amp and pioneer subs. I have checked all the wiring twice and its all fine...the problem is whenever I accelerate from lower rpms, the head unit stops sending sound to all the speakers, except for the sub. anyobody know whats wrong? All the speakers in the car are stock. Also when this happens I unplug the wiring harness and plug it back in, and if I do it fast enough the unit retains its memory and it will put sound to all the speakers again. anyone know what the problem could be?

its a 2002 oz rally

haha uhh... the only thing i can think of is the HU but i couldnt tell u whats happening

if your sub is still working then your HU is still functioning then it is your speaker output, so
a malfunctioning HU? thats all i could tell you

Is there a stock amp in your car? This could intefer w/ the speakers and not the subs if it was not bypassed. The HU's built in amp would probably be more powerful than the stock amp which could be a problem. But I'm not sure....just a guess.

Getting an amp is usually more important than replacing the speakers.

If it was a grounding issue I would think that the sub would cut out the same as the speakers.

when u put the aftermarket speakers in, did u use a harness adapter or did u splice the wires, more than likely either one wire got switched or you didnt crimp the connection all the way. might want to look into that option

the head unit wasnt brand new so there is a chance it could be bad, it came out of my car that I had previous to the oz, which was sitting in my yard for prolly 6 months before I took it out and put it in the oz. I will go and check all the connections between the harness adapter and the head unit though. and the stereo is grounded with the rest of the stereo stuff behind where the deck goes. the fuses are good too, so I have no idea. Im definately not ruling out that the head unit is bad, Ill remake up all the connections and see if it still does it tomorrow sometime, thanks a lot for all your input though, I appreciate it
