Need help with a coaxial tweeter...
I have a problem with one of the tweeters in my front door. The driver's-side tweeter doesn't hit the high's like it used to. And no, its not just me, I adjusted the fade, checked the treble, and it definitely just doesn't hit the high ends. I even showed my girl, and she notices it too.
I don't think the tweeter is blown, because it doesn't crackle or anything, it just won't hit the crisp high notes.
So does anybody have any idea what this might be? I don't want to have to pull off my front door and swap it with a rear speaker to check, but I think that's what its going to take. Is it possible that its a short in my Pioneer HU???

I noticed that Lancer speakers REALLY suck...
They wear out too fast. I had to replace all of my speakers with pioneers. I didn't wait till it became a problem. I don't have the 6 speaker system in my OZ.
Are your speakers stock?
If they are stock that might just be your problem. I know someone else who has a Lancer with the 6 speakers, still stock. Her car speakers are popping, crackling, and sometimes don't work.
My advice to you is to roll up your sleeves and see what the problem is by starting at the tweeter and test it. If it works fine then keep troubleshooting at the radio or where ever it connects too, then the radio. Now, if you don't want to get your hands dirty, take it to someone. I hope this helps.

I would guess that the actual speaker may not be blown, but a component in the crossover network may be. I had a set of Rockfords in my Durango that did the same thing as yours. I didn't realize it until I sat in the passenger side. It was under warrranty so I had it replaced. Anyway, the point is, it may be a cap in the crossover network that blew.

thanks sticks.
i think what you said sounds like the most likely cause. my speakers aren't stock (check my profile) and they have a passive crossover built-in. i was kinda thinking about replacing them anyway with a set of components, because the front speaker location for a coaxial is pretty crappy. i'm gonna go with the pioneer rev series, because i like their sound and i know they fit.
