need help on decidin what to get

i just had a birthday and my dad is giving me some money for some new stuff for my car. i wanna buy some speakers, a head unit, and a sub. i already have an Alpine MRV-F450 amp 5/4/3 channel. i was just askin for some suggestions on what you guys think i should get. ive been looking at Alpine Type-r coaxils for the front n rear speakers, a Kenwood KDC-MP832U headunit, and either a 12" JL w3v3 or w3v2 or a 12" Alpine type-r or type-s. im really not sure on the sub because of my amp. if you guys could help me out n lemme know what you think it would be helpful. thanks.

i was also wondering how i should power everything? the amp is 50 watts RMS x 4 + 200 watts RMS x 1. is that goin to be enough to power the type-r? i know that the W3v2 will do alright with that amount but i didnt know if the type-r would.

That amp will not satisfy a Type-R sub. You would do better to put it with either a Type-S or 2 Type-E's. Or, get a seperate sub amp. You would be much happier with the sound quality of the JL W3V3 if you could get one. They are clean at all volume levels and if you want to crank them, they will pound. Alpine subs just aren't as clear.

Before anybody breaks out the flame thrower... I have an Alpine Type-R 12, and I listen to the JL W3V3 all day at work. This is an educated statement, not just a preference towards a brand. I normally try to talk people out of JL when I am at work because I don't personally think you should buy a JL just for the name (because you pay alot for the name).

As for speakers... coaxials are cheaper, but if you were to put components in the front, you could set them up for better imaging and an improved sound. I wouldn't go with Alpine for those either. If you want to save some money and get good speakers. Either give Memphis Audio a shot, or just go with some good ole' Infinity stuff.

the amp is an alpine MRV-F450. it was in our yukon and were sellin it so i got it. it isnt my first choice but it is free and everyone likes free stuff. i didnt think it would go with the type-r but thats ok ive always had jl subs just seein if something else was better. my dad is givin me some money for things but he doesnt want me to go overboard so i was goin to try n stay around the 500-600 range. any suggestions on headunits?

Judging by the rest of the Alpine speaker and sub line up, the Type-X will be about the same as the rest... just louder. Alpine's strong point is headunits and amplifiers. Just like JL's strong point is subs, and MB Quart's strong point is speakers. Everybody has a product that they make better than anything else.

i have a amp that is 50 watt rms x 4 and its been clocked at 1250 watts max thats why i was asking

kicker makes the best tweeters IMO, the material allows for more crisp highs and a cleaner sound although you dont notice a difference unless you are concentrating on it

and yes that amp will sound fine with just 1 sub in a sealed enclosure, but i wouldnt recommend it if you are running your speakers off of it too

I would really reconsider the Type-R speakers if I was you. But, if that is what you are set on getting, then you should be find powering them with any goo quality aftermarket head unit. They all push about the same power anymore.
