Help with Head Unit Install

I just got the Pioneer DEH-P7400MP head unit today and think I'm going to try and install it myself. Besides getting a harness to snap on to the existing one, are there any tips or tricks for setting this up without ****ing up my plastic too much (this is my first aftermarket head unit, but I'm a drum'n'basshead so it's necessary)? I just did the B&M shifter mod on Saturday and it wasn't too bad, but I did snap a latch on one of the console pieces -- still sits perfect and doesn't rattle.

If anyone has installed a head unit on their 2002 lancer and has some pics or tips, please let me know. Thanks much! :headbng2:

Sorry about posting this. I see, if I would have read, that an answer exists here. For future reference in case this thread gets found down the road:

Liquidlancer's post:

"First start off by removing the knobs for your ac next underthe knobs there are 2 screws remove them then under the climate control ther is a shelf with 2 screws in it take them out the shelf pops out push the back fo the climat control to make the plate with the ac dial indicator whitchamicalits will come out then you can remove the 4 screwes that hold the head unti in take out old head unit and take of the 2 brackets that were held in by the 4 screwes and use the brackets on your new head unti dont need a cage or anything and/or get some cash hire a profesional to do it for you"

The following should also help, but don't load it right now. They have no bandwidth and I've been trying to laod the pictures on the website for 15 minutes now -- about half way through. If anyone else hits it, the overclocked 286 server on dialup with Windows 3.1 will surely crash.

Thumbs up Thank you

This post was really helpful. I was going to have someone install my alpine CD player, but today I did it in just a few minutes thanks to this post. Now if I can just find a post to add free HP I 'll be set.
