Head Unit Install Tips

I just installed a pioneer head unit so I can play through my iPhone. The trim ring that came with the radio doesnt fit between the radio and the trim bezel and there is an ugly gap. Does anyone have a good solution for this?

I had the same problem.

I added a few washers behind the head unit (the screws were long enough to allow this) and it helped.

thats an option although I feel that the radio sits out to far as it is, i positioned it flush but once again the trim ring wasnt even close to fitting

I noticed that the stereo the PO put in also sticks out a bit, but it doesn't bother me that much. Hopefully the new stereo I just bought doesn't do it. You could try some trimming if it bugs you that much

Mine does not sit out very far. Only about 3-4mm more than it would to begin with. I just needed that extra little bit to get the trim piece to lock in.

Then again my head unit is about 4 years old now too, so they might have ones that sit in a bit more

On a side note I love my FM transmiter from Walmart. I can play my MP3 player over the radio now.
