If you're sticking with the stock head unit, then no. If you upgrade the head unit, then you'll have a much nicer amplifier in it (by comparison to stock) that will make the stock speakers sound much better without nearly the risk of blowing the speakers.

The stock unit as far as I can tell just isn't capable of producing sound quality that's better that it sounds stock. It's the most limiting factor in stock sound quality.

My Hu is a Kenwood, so I guess I should just wait till I get some new component speakers.

I got those 6.5" Coaxial Jensen. But I don't know if I'll put them in the car. Jensen is far from making the best speakers, so I don't know if it's worth it.

Well, I'd put the Jensen's in for the rears, because they've probably got better sound in the highs adn mids and the stock ones probably have a better bass response. So that will make for a fuller sound, but I don't think the 300W amp is going to make your system sound any better than the head unit already does.

Once you get some components in the front, those Jensens in the back can just be turned down a bit and the amp can be used to drive those and maybe a single sub, depending on what you want to setup.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I'll probably put in the Jensen tomorow then.

I guess, I'll have to raise the carpet from the rear deck to gain access to those speakers?

No... it's easy to replace them. There are 3 (I think 3) screws from inside the trunk that hold on the speaker grills. Then pull those off and there are 4 screws that go down into the speaker to hold it to the rear deck. That's it.

The Jensen's are in now. It was pretty easy to do. I hope the front speakers will be as easy (wich I really doubt).

I have to give them lower power than the front ones though. The image is too screwd up if I don't. When everything is on even level, the sound comes too much from the back. Which pisses me off, because when I lower the back speakers, it affects my sub at the same time.

Does your head unit have a non-fading preamp output by chance? Many also have an option where the rear preamp output can also switch to a non-fading output.

The final idea to solve that is to hook up your subs to the front signal instead of the rear. They are effectively the same signal anyway unless you're running some kind of 5.1 DVD system or something, so that would be the best signal to take if you've got to take front or rear.

I kinda solved the problem. I look thru my owner manual looking for non-fading and all that stuff. Unfortunatly, there is no such option, but there is an option that lets me tell the HU what kind of speakers are hooked. So now instead of having nothing entered in there, I've got the setting for 6". It does not make a huge difference but it is still noticeable.
