I have worked with the alpine components before and personally own the infinity Kappa 6.5" components. Both are very good but to me the infinity's are MUCH better. Much more detailed highs, and they don't hurt my ears (although several people say they do). Hardly any bass out of any components. Make sure you amp them really good, I am running my pair off of a Kicker 250.2 I think and it still doesn't give them what they need. They really need 100 watts RMS per speaker (200rms per pair) of really clean power to show all that they can do.

I have the Infinity Kappa 5.25" components running off a JL 300/4 and they sound great. I am very happy with them and would buy Infinity again.

If you're putting in components to try to get better sound, why not get a small sub to fill in the bass? That's the way to get the best sound.

You'll never get 6.5" speakers to make bass well as a 10" or 12" can. If you let a sub handle the bass, you can tweak your HU to send only highs and mids to your components, and let them really shine. Otherwise, you'll end up turning down the highs and mids and cranking the volume to get the bass you want out of the components, and it'll all end up sounding like crap.

FWIW, I have the stock S&S Infinity speakers in my car still, but run off an Alpine 9853, with a 10" Infinity Basslink to add a little bottom end without taking up my whole trunk.

i just dont want a sub, i dont want to take up trunk space, or add another 50 pounds. I just looked at the number of both componenets and wonder if i would lose bass compared to the pioneer coaxials i have now, and it sounds like the answer is yes

i really dont want to spend another 100-200 just for some front speakers, that would be about 400 dollars, which is too much. so i could have nice speakers that have potential to be great with more money and power, or i could stick with my decent speakers i have now and buy something else
