Aftermarket Head Unit for 2008

Hi, this is my first post here and sadly it has to be a question. I am curious, how would somebody go about getting an aftermarket head unit for their car? I know the defult one has mp3 capability which kicks *** and all but I want something more fancy with an AUX port and USB port.

I found this unit and really want to buy it

The only problem is I am not sure where i would stick it in. Its not like a Honda or Acura where its pritty simple just take out the old one and put in the new one but on the lancer they got the fancy style too it. So i am curious what you guys would recommend.

It probly wont fit without a kit, more and more car companies are doing this, which sucks, but Im sure someone will make a kit for our car if you dont want the Navi.

hmm... I wonder how much it would cost (and if its compatible) for me to import the navi system from the US and install it in my car...

i'm in Canada and for some stupid reason, they don't offer the navi package... all we get is the sun and sound w/ the RF audio... w/ the normal headunit... no LCD navi unit...

either that, or it would be pretty nice to find an aftermarket one...

Depending on how close you are to the US, I would drive it here and buy it from a dealer and have it installed, there are maps for Canada I believe, and it ends before Alaska, it is an awsome system, well worth it.

yeah, i'm in Toronto so we're pretty close, which make for it to be a pretty good deal with the exchange rate!

pretty jealous of you folks in the US - how much do you think it'll cost?

I would go aftermarket if I were you. It will not only be cheaper, but you can also get CANADA maps to ensure your navi works. Just my .02

I'd say go with a Pioneer aftermarket navi; their most expensive one is cheaper then the mitsu and has a lot more features .

Well you could always order the actual Mount Piece for the Navi unit seperate. Its about $40 and then install a aftermarket unit to try to save money. Of course you would have to find a aftermarket unit that would fit the area, which shouldn't be too hard.

I am an installer in Toronto and my lancer is coming tomorrow. I am building a custom mold to replace the head unit with a flip out LCD from pioneer. It is a single DIN unit so most aftermarket head units will fit in. I will post pictures when I am done(may not be for a month or 2). PM me if you want some suggestions or help.

I own a car audio/video/alarm business and have a direct rep with Metra. They are working on both kits (single din and double din) now. They expect them to be out in about a month. Once they are realesed, I'll buy a bunch and offer them up at dealer cost + shipping.
