Keep reading through the audio posts (and other threads as well) and eventually this stuff will start making sense .

But as you can see from previous posts...expect to spend around >$1000 for a decent quality sound system.

MTX makes the best sound systems end of story... not their cheap retail crap. Im talking their high end thousands and thousands of dollars sound systems.

thats purely opinion..MTX has been around for a long time and yes they have good subs but there is no one company that makes the "best sound systems ever" i am personally a big fan of memphis car audio..and IMO i think that JL is overpriced and you can get stuff thats good for much cheaper..but again its all a matter of opinion

anyways...u dont have to spend thousands for a system..dont be fooled..i would imagine by the sounds of it that you've never had a system before and your not looking for someting thats going to hurt your ears every time you turn it up..but i could be wrong

depends on wut kinda music you listen to...a pair of good 12's in a ported enclosure will be plenty loud...again you have to give a price range of more then $300 tho..w/o a HU u can prly get hooked up with a decent pair of subs and amp n wut not for like..700-800 bucks..you just gotta find some deals..and word to the wise, do NOT go to best buy, circuit city, etc for this..u will prly get raped..and it will hurt..if you know ppl that are selling subs thats prly your best start..get something and if you want you can always go bigger louder and better down the road..remember none of this is permanent

Places like Best Buy will usually do a free install.

Amp & sub.

Actually the installers there have to go through all kinds of certifications. Well... at least all the guys in my store did, not sure if they all have to or not. I work in a Best Buy, and yes most of the floor sales people couldn't tell good sound from their a$$, they see the highest price tag and assume it's the best. Which is sometimes right but not always. The installers are usually pretty knowledgeable though, at least in my experiences with Best Buy. But there are always exceptions I guess.
