quick question.....

hey guys i need the trunk space for a trip im taking... besides the basic unplugging the wires from the subs what else do i have to do to prevent my system going AWAL? i think i remember someone telling me i have to pull a fuse out along with the wires that go into the subs... is that right?

When the parents flew in I had to pick them up and all their luggage...the subs, boxes, amps had to go. I just disconnected everything back there and bound up the exposed wires with electrical tape. I guess you could pull the inline fuse for the power wire, but as long as the tape is on there good...no worries.

Yep, what he said. Just unhook the sub. The amp takes very little room and it won't be unhappy if you unplug the sub.

i just find it more of a hassle to get my damn allen key out and start unscrewing then it is to push the terminals on the back of the box in to take off the wires. unless u have an amp that sits more than 2 1/2 inches tall, no matter where it is it wont take up more space than say throwing a binder or a cd case into the mix of all your crap.

His setup is a large ported box with amp mounted on the back...so to remove it as one unit is the key. So just unscrew the wires to the amp and cap'um with tape. Done!

the amp is installed on the back of the seats.. so i was planning on just disconnecting the wires that go into the box..but wasn't sure if it would harm the amp if i just left the wires not connected to the subs.. but it makes sense like muting the radio... thanks guys

Ah man! your system thread and it's pictures really caught me then! Yeah, just remove the box and tape up the ends of the wires...just in case.
