Parking Brake tap... How can I fool my HU?
as title and mini title reads...
how can i trick my HU into thinking the parking brake is ALWAYS on. i can just click my brake up once so it does not engage but thats a pain.
i want 100% trickery..
so anyone have ideas?
as per pioneer directions:
"Light green wire must be used to detect the ON/OFF status of the parking brake. The lead must be connected to the power supply side of the parking brake switch."
there u have it, what else on my car can simulate this at all times.
thanks

i heard theres some devices u can use for that, but if u measure the voltage of that wire, u could probably use another wire that has the same voltage to use as that. i doubt it will be a 12V wire, but im not sure.
just ground it out, this should work I haven't installed my system, probably will this weekend but this is what all the people have been telling me on the sounddomain forums, and they know their stuff. The guy who just installed his said you just have to lift the lever up one click so the parking brake isn't engaged but the light still lights up saying that it is. But try grounding it out
Just ground it. I just put the green wire between the plastic and the metal frame that you bolt the HU rails into (the dash frame, not the HU's). It fools the unit and have no problems whatsoever.

Thanks fellas,
Should I strip the wire then wrap it in a nice grounding location.. OR should I ground it in the ECU wires (chassis ground pin), considering ive got a tap for it already

When you buy a in-dash DVD player, it can only be turned on if ur e-brake is up. That prevents people from watching DVD's while driving. Alot of people just ground that green wire, and voila, the "parking brake" is engaged all the time.

there is a hand brake sensor wire.. the HU detects whether or not the brake is engaged in order for the DVD or other video to show.
im looking for a spot i can attach the hand brake sensor so that the HU thinks the ebrake is ALWAYS on.. thus allowing video to show while moving, and with the hand brake down.

Vanilla, If I were you, i'd find a bolt somewhere in the framework behind the head unit location. Take that bolt out, strip the green wire, wrap it around that bolt and screw it back in. Make sure that the bolt is actually bolting straight into a metal frame segment. That's what I did with the switch for my fog light. I just found some arbitrary bolt that is attached to the metal frame and wrapped the wire around it. Works like a beauty
