2008 Rattles

Does anyone have a solution for the rattles around the rear window? How do I take it out to put some sort of padding along the edges? I remember tearing the whole back seat apart in a friend's Civic just to get to the deck lid cover/speakers. What's the deal with our cars? Cannot stand the sound of plastic on glass!!!

the rear deck lid inside the car, that piece of plastic going across the back of the car, is what is actualyl causing the noise, because it bounces up and down at a fast rate, hitting the window and metal of the car. I had the same problem. What you can do, is get some compressed poly-fil from walmart, only one bag thing, and rip it to 3 equal thickness pads. By rip i mean pull apart like plys from plywood. Stuff the 3 sheets under the rear deck and you will notice a HUGE difference!

This might be a dumb question... Do I stuff the poly underneath the rear deck from inside the trunk or just around the edges from the inside?

I was looking into this over the weekend. If you sit inside the trunk and look up you'll see holes in the frame and you can actually reach in and touch that plastic cover. My plan was gonna be shoving some foam-type material in those spaces to stop the rattling. I also have a real annoying buzz/rattle coming from the seatbelt housing/B-pillar, but I don't know how I'm gonna go about that one.

Well if you want to do it the right way, you have to completely take off the plastic piece and do it from the inside. That's what I did. To do it the not-so-right way, you can stuff it from the trunk.

Ok, will do. In your other post, you did not say how to do it the RIGHT WAY, thanks for clearing that up.

another thing that you can do is get some weather stripper and put it between the glass and the rear deck. it doesnt look tacky either

Well I got around to finding a solution. I ended up using a few old t-shirts and ripped them into strips. In the trunk there are 3 holes that you can use. They are about in the middle of the trunk up top by the small trunk light. The holes actually have wires running in the middle of them so they are easy to spot. Just be careful jamming anything in there so you don't rip out one of the wires. Two t-shirts later, the rattles are stopped. Not the "correct" way, but it works.

+1 for the shirts. I tried taking the plastic off from inside the car, but those stupid plastic clips broke. Ended up just stuffing the shirts in the holes from the trunk, but it did the trick.

Can you give us more detail on how to get the plastic peace removed.
I removed the back seat a few times, and see that there is 2 plastic clip holing the plastic cover in. Are they the only clips that needs to be removed, or is there more hidden stuff behind the rear A-pillar?.
