Question Polk or Sony ???

I currently have one 12" 1200 Watt Sony Xplod sub running off of the 1000 watt sony amp in a bandpass box in my trunk. I am very satisfied with the lows I receive from this set up, but I don't think the quality of the sub is all that great. It is almost impossible to completely get rid of air leaks because of the odd bolt patterns. Today in Circuit City I purchased 2 12" 400 Watt Polk GNX124 subs. I was planning on getting a sealed 1 cubic foot box for these subs, but am not sure if I should keep these or buy another sony Xplod. I will run these off the amp I currently have which is still a perfect match with the 175 RMS at 4ohms or 200RMS at 2 ohms, but was curious what everyone else thinks. There is a big difference between Sony and Polk, but need some feedback on what you think would be the best set up. I also have Infinity components in my car which are amazing, and I will not change, so what does everyone think will work best? Any feedback is appreciated, Thanks!

Please somebody reply, either if you have one of these set ups, or from any experience or things you have heard of either of these subs. I only have a few days left to return these subs if I truly don't want them, and I can't install and listen to them as of right now because my car is in the shop. Please post, THX.

I don't have any personal experience with either brand. But, from competing in both soundQ and spl, and hearing many people's systems at shows, I would probably not go with either one. I would spend a little extra money and go with something like JL or Eclipse. You could also go with Kicker or Rockford.

Sorry I don't have any personal experience with the brands you have but, hey, at least you get some kind of a response that has to do with car audio.

The Polks are the lesser of 2 evils. They'll handle power better, and respond cleaner than the Sony's. They're still not up to par with other subs in similar price ranges, but like any sub, in the right box either would shine. (I'm not talking a prefab box here, I'm talking one built by someone who took a little time with it)

Thanks a lot guys for responding, I am going to keep the POLK's and i know that they are not the best in the price range, but once i get the right amp they will be amazing. The amp i have now is PERFECT for them at 4 ohms, but once i run them at 2 ohms with a better amp they will be sick. I also have dynamat and infinity components in my car so it rocks to begin with. I have my tweeters installed in the cubby hole under the dash, and they sound amazing giving the highs with all the lows I have now. Thanks for the help though. The only other sub I was considering were 12" MTX 6000 but being a little more pricy and the fact that I would have to get another amp on the spot now, I just can't afford it. I also listened to infinity subs and its great don't get me wrong, but the polk has the sound I am looking for. The last problem I have is selling my Xplod sub in its Competition Bandpass box right now. I purchased the box and sub for $220 and had it installed by a recordable audio guy near me, so its tight, but can't find anyone to buy it. I was thinking of asking $100 for it, but i am negotiable and not sure if I would sell it to anyone I would have to ship it to on this site. I live in Staten Island, NY. Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll post pics when everything gets installed.
