Installed factory GTS tweeters on my DE!

I ordered the factory rockfard fosgate tweeters from the GTS for my stock DE. My DE system only comes with the standard 4 speaker system, but the lancer is pre-wired for tweeters. Install was simple. Remove the factory sail panels, and remove the loose harness from the panel. Plug the harness into the new tweeters/panels, and you are ready to go!

OEM Mitsubishi part number: 7221A466 & 7221A465

http://www.mitsubishiparts.net - $81.05 a piece. I got this a little cheaper somewhere else (through work). Each side includes new sail panel with silver accent, and tweeter plus tweeter clip. Plug n' Play!

Review: These tweeters really make the music sound a lot better, but I think my aftermarket Pioneer headunit is a little too powerful for the tweeters. I made some adjustments though, and ran more power to the rear than the front. I now get very little crackle from the front tweeters at high volume. I would definitley recommend these for anyone with a factory 4 speaker sound system with factory headunit!

Nope. I asked the sales guy, and he said that all of these pieces need to be ordered as a unit. No individual part numbers, which sucks!

Its time to get an amp my man...better control with gains and frequency is what you need to make sure you get those tweeters screaming the right way

Looks good - nice neat mod!

I've just ordered a sound system...4 channel amp, splits for the front and so far a 12" sub - all Rockford. I'm not sure on all the doof doof bass though so i think I'll swop out the sub for a decent pair of 3 ways for the rear doors.

I'm expecting the stuff to be delivered on Friday or Saturday so with luck I can start installing this weekend!

Hi
Looked at your pictures and it exactly what I'm trying to do!
I have a 2008 Lancer DE and want to put tweeters on it, but want to do it plug & play. I looked over the part numbers that you posted it seems that they're not longer in their database.
Could you please provide me with the tweeter models and/or a phone number to call mitsubishiparts.
I would really appreciate if you could help me.
Thanks

Please dont spend 160 dollars for cheap tweeters! I know they are cheap cuz i have them in my 09 gts.

i know this isnt plug in play but this will give you the best sound and will prolly cost less than 160.

1) buy a set of RF tweeters with crossovers. (i prefer blaupunkt but RF is ok) and dont use the stock Tweeter connector. Connect the stock spaker input from the door into the crossover and then the cross over will have speaker ouput and tweeter output. do this for both doors and you will have a better sounding system, guaranteed 100%.

2) for an even better sounding system replace the speakers

I did this with a blaupunkt component set for the front and blaupunkt speakers for the rear. total for tweeters crossovers and 4 speakers was 85.00 shipped. i installed them in my 08 es and they sound amazing with the stock headunit.

go to sonixelectronix (not sure how u spell it) they are the cheapest.

For the rear

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-BLAUPUNKT-PCCB540-5-25-2-WAY-COMPONENT-SPEAKERS_W0QQitemZ190266466787QQcmdZViewItemQQptZC ar_Speakers?hash=item190266466787&_trksid=p3286.c0 .m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240 %3A1318

for the front

i think those are the ones in the front im not too sure but sonicelectronix is out of them now

these are 100% better than stock and for all you audio critics i know these arent the BEST out there but they are definitely the best for those who want to keep it under 75.00

also it is very easy to mount the crossovers inside the door with no rattle using zip ties

Thanks for the info man.

The RF GTS tweeters sound good until I hit a certain volume level. I have an aftermarket Kenwood DDX-512 headunit and anything above volume level 18, my tweeters start to pop/rattle. Very damn annoying! Would purchasing an aftermarket set of tweeters with no cross-over get rid of this? Or do I need a cross-over?

Your gonna need some crossovers. You can pick up a set of crossovers off of ebay or anywhere that are rockford fosgate and you should be able to use them with the RF tweeters.

just hook up the speaker in the door to the crossover, the crossover will then output to the speaker and the tweeter.

Awesome man, I really appreciate the help! I'm gonna order some nice tweeters with cross-overs from crutchfield.com, and maybe pick up a set of nice door speakers also.

Would you recommend 2 or 3 way door speakers?

Anyone knows another site to order this piece? Shipping to Canada is quite expensive on this site!

Thanks!
