i was wondering what is it better to have. to have headunit that has a crossover built in or to get a totally seperate crossover? I am wondering this so i can get a decision on a head unit. right now im looking at one from alpine. one of four but the one im looking at has some good feature and trying to get for not too much. alpine 9807, 9811, 9813 and the one im trying to get 9815. any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

what do you need the crossover for? what are you trying to do?

How far are you planning to take the system in your car? Crossover comes in handy when you are planning to put in a system. You can set it up just to have the lows hit the subs. Then you can save yourself some money and if you do plan to up grade just get an amp with a built in crossover. The only down side is that you will have to adjust it from the amp.
