8 ohm or dvc?

really quick question...my amp has been overheating because my subs are both 4 ohm, running at a bridged 4 ohm setting, making the load 2 ohm. I can get identical subs (same specs, brand, model, etc...) in either 4 ohm + 4 ohm DVC, or just 8 ohm, to balance out the load. I know 8 ohm would be easier to wire, but does it make a difference? the price difference is just a few dollars, but will the quality be any different? thanks in advance

ok, if you go with the 8ohm you can bridge it but it will be a 4ohm load which means less power out to the speakers. Go with the DVC and dont bridge it, its the same thing but wont stress out your amp.

second try at explaining it better lol:
the DVC speakers, non bridged, will be the same as your current setup bridged and wont overheat the amp! hope this helps.

i second the non-bridged DVC route. not as much power, but you'll be running a cleaner, cooler signal.

ok, I'm somewhat confused...isn't the whole point of going the DVC route so that I CAN bridge it without it overheating? I mean, if I'm just gonna run it off of 2 channels anyways, why shouldn't I just keep the 4 ohm subs I have now?

I have my 4 ohm subs (2 of them) running at 700W (peak) since it's bridged, but this makes it a 2 ohm load. if I keep it at 2 channels (non-bridged) it's a 4 ohm load, but only uses half the amp (as opposed to using all 4 channels bridged). with the 8 ohm subs, I could just swap them out, making the load 4 ohm automatically. if I get the DVC, I can wire it in such a fashion that it would get the load to 4 ohm, but still be using all 4 channels (bridged) and getting all the power from my amp. why would it be better to even switch to DVC if I'm just going to use half the amp anyways? sorry, maybe I'm just missing something...

I'd say just get a better amp that is capable of handling a 2 ohm load more efficiently.

I plan to do that at some point in the future, but at the moment, money is tight. the subs I actually want I can't afford, this is just a temporary fix.
