I just blew up my amp so Im looking for a new one. I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 2, 12". 200 Watts RMS, 400 Peak. I just bought and alpine hu and was very impressed, I was wondering if theyre amps are as good. Also something I noticed that was a little strange, my sub says its an 8 ohm?? Im not real good with the resistance and all that, but most amps are rated at 4 ohms so would my sub only be pulling half the power as a 4 ohm. Ne help would be appreciated.

 

get another subwoofer to make a 4 ohm load, this is the "happy load" as most all amplifiers perform well with no heat or clipping problems at this impedance. Get you another alpine those amps are great and are nearly bulletproof.

i have had good luck with MTX amps, very good power for the money, same goes with kicker amps (although a little more expensive). JL makes excellent stuff, and there are a ton more brands that make good amps. just start looking for amps in the power range your looking for, and ask us. but yeah, your certainly going to need a second 8ohm sub to reduce your load to 4ohm on the amp, it will give you a little more power. if you get a mono amp, then just get rid of the sub you have and pick up two 4 ohm subs to reduce your load to 2ohms at the amp, or just get a single dual voice coil sub with 4 ohm coils.
