FM Modulators

I'm looking to buy a FM modulator, to be used as my #1 source of audio. I have a good system, and I don't want a bad modulator. I'm not a freak about it, but I don't want any crackling/loss of sound, but I don't want to pay over $20 either.
Is Audiovox a good brand?

What do you guys have/recommend?

i bought an iPod, so I can have my entire collection in my car. Why won't it sound like regular cd sound? The radio sounds OK most of the time, and I have a nice head unit.

Its not the headunit. Its just the fact that its a wave being transmitted. It loses clarity. The radio sounds good i agree but Its just not the same sound. Maybe its me I dunno. I had a clarion one and it sounded pretty good. It was this one:

so you spend all this money on an iPod, and decide to go frugal when it comes time to send the music to the HU?
some HUs let you change the CD changer control into an AUX input, or have an aux input directly on it, id check that out for sure
that would give you the best quality, thats what i do now with my archos jukebox and clarion dxz-725

most good headunits have an auxilary input. you could just tap into that with and rca cable to line out adapter (5 bux for a gold plated one at radio shack). Plug that into the headphones of the iPod and the other into the RCA jacks (if you head unit has them).

Just an option, this is what i didn on my car.

hmm. well my gf bought me my head unit for valentines day, so i dont think it's a good idea to replace it right away

i'm gonna get a belkin wireless transmitter, unless someone tells me not to. should be pretty cool, then i can play it through any radio.

my dad likes it. its simple as hell. although not perfect quality, its decent enough to where it won't bother you. ...

WOW, UNDER 20 BUCKS. I HAVE ONE FOR MY AUDIO VIDEO SETUP. WHILE THE A/C IS ON THERE IS A LOUD *** WHINNING NOISE. I NEED TO PUT A OSCILLATOR ON THE WIRE GOING TO THE FM MODULATOR. DISTORTION CAN COME ANY MANY WAYS FROM AN FM SIGNAL. IN MY CASE IT IS A POWER HUM FROM THE MOTOR.

i wish there was a way to just splice some wires and make an aux input for the hu!

i am not sure i know the inverter is jensen and i think the mod is audiovox. when i get back home i am going to relocate everything too. it also depends upon where the mod is located.

Do a search for iRock. ISTR an iPod FM transmitter by that name (actually it worked with any standard audio jack, IIRC).
