Exclamation Door lock actuators?

I recently purchased an 09 lancer. I got the basic model to reduce the cost of the vehicle and have more for my mods. Well the first thing on my list is to install an alarm. When i purchased it the dealer said just to go to any shop and do it. The shop says they dont know whether or not the car comes with Door lock actuators, Dealer says yes; WHICH IS IT? I don’t feel like being ripped off...

as someone said in the other post that you asked this question in....if your car has power door locks then your car has the actuators..if you don't have power door locks then your car does not have actuators. that easy.

On some newer vehicles the actuator is built into the door latch in the door. The only difference is whether or not the wiring is connected to anything. If the actuator is part of the door latch itself then it would be as simple as finding out the diagram or pinout and wiring it up.

I don't know if this is the case with your new lancer... but basically if you don't have power door locks then you'd have to take off the door panel and check out what's in there and how the factory door lock works. If you're not sure what you're looking for then I would suggest taking it to a reputable shop that you trust and get them to do the work. If there is an actuator in there and they can use it, trust me they would... it makes the installer's life easier too.

More than likely you will have to add aftermarket actuators and run wires into the door.

Hope this helps,

Nick
