Hey,

I started intalling my clarion dvd/nav unit on my car... and all went well til it came to wiring. Turns out that the stock amp (on the rox fos package) will not power on. So i went to a car audio place and they tell me i need some sort of adapter from my amp to hook it up to my head unit. .. well it wasnt a big deal til i saw the price tag of 225$ for the piece to hook up my stock amp to my head unit. . . + the harness + intallation = around $300.

Seems pretty steep just to install a head unit.

Can anyone give adivse? am i getting ripped off? is there a better way to do it? maybe a new amp?

metra harness mito-02 something like that, do a little searching this is an OLD topic with PLENTY of information on the forum. the harness should cost no more tan 150

eh for buying from a shop, that price is about right. you could get a new amp, but it will be more expensive, between the amp itself and all the wiring needed. you would also have to relocate the amp because you cant find a good, small 5 channel amp to fit under the seat expect the Alpine PDX amps, but their 5 channel model is about 600 bucks.
