Very noob question about 2004 Lancer.

I know that this is a noob question, but I know very little about stereo systems. I have a 2004 Lancer OZ Rally with the factory head unit. I was wondering if it is possible to install some sort of I-pod interface. I would prefer not to use one of the radio frequency transmitters. I am looking more for a hard wired system that will also charge. Again , I am sorry for such a basic question. Any help you can supply will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Zack

unfortunately there is no direct method with the factory radio other than a hardwired fm modulator. these are better than a wireless fm transmitter in that you won't get any static, and there are even some that will charge the ipod for you.

you could also just replace the radio and if you do it yourself it can be done for under $100. you would just need to purchase a radio with a front aux input and the wiring harness (metra # 70-7001). installation is simple even if you are new to it.

Thanks for the information. I was afraid that was the case. I just can't bring myself to spend money on stereo equipment over other mods. Thanks again.
