Wtf

ok so i just installed my head unit. everything was working perfectly for about 5 hours then i was just driving along and all of a sudden the cd player turns off. i notice the clock went out also and so did the little dome light. im like ok whatever. so i get out of th car and try to lock it and it wont lock or unlock. so what the hell does this mean? did i blow all those fuses?

help would be appreciated before i try anything too dramatic.

you probably put the power wire on the remote wire. You need to get a harness. I saw your other post and you said you were wiring to the factory harness. You need some professional help now b/c It'll take you a while to fix it yourself. I'm sorry to say that but I've been an installer for about 6 years and I've seen the do it yourselfer jobs and Im pretty sure its a mess

I had an eclipse do the same type of thing. Do your headlights work? When you turn them on, does everything else fade in the interior, like dimming almost completely out? When my last car did this, my alternator was bad, and wasn't charging the battery enough until finally the battery went bad. Eventually the car died when I was on the road...NOT a good experience. Check it out

something is crossed b/c I have a harness from my distributer and I've never had any problems. Your fuse is out if you are wondering about the lights but it wont fix your problem replacing it. It'll just blow again. Did you use couplers or just twist the wires together?

when you twist them it is an uconsistent current and that can blow a fuse. I'd suggest using good connectors and rechecking your connections. Maybe go up 5 amps in the fuse, but I have a pretty powerfull system and never blown the fuse so some wires may be wrong in yours. Just double check and use connectors and you should be fine. By the way what head unit are you using?

Have you check your grounding wire connection? and any open on speaker wire?
Best disconnect all your audio wire connection first and replace all blown fuse, make sure your car electrical system is back to normal. Then Re-Install your new head unit again with double care and double sure the wire connection is correct and proper connected. Use a volt meter to test all voltage before install! Check the factory wire harness such as grounding(usually black), permanent voltage(usually yellow), ACC power(usually red), remote power(usually blue). The Sony head unit wiring is easy, it shld have a diagram n wiring harness come with it. Jus follow the diagram. Hope this help

Are u using any capacitor? or any power amp?

No cap and no amp should be more simple and straight forward wiring connection. Check my edited msg above for checking the factory audio wire harness.
