V1 is the best on the market. No question about it. It may cost nearly twice as much as the K40... but it's a worthwhile investment.

does anyone know a where I could locate a radar detector that is mounted behind the grill and displays on the dash. My girlfriend said she used to have one in her old imprezza and that it came from the dealership that way used.

Now I still cant figure out how they can garantee this. If you get a ticket what will they do. They can pay for the ticket, but what about court costs, attorney and insurance that goes up????

If you read it, it says "some restrictions apply"! Also in some states its illegal to have such devices in your car! So who knows?

i have had a radar detector since i got my car a year and a half ago. it saved me plenty of times.........

then i was doing about 95 on the highway. i wasn't really racing or anything, i just happened to have sped up to that speed. i didn't even realize i was going that fast to tell the truth. well all the sudden, my radar detector goes nuts, no warning, and the next thing i know there is a cop up ahead hidden behind a bush. i slam on the brakes, but it's too late.

i went to court, and they weren't even willing to negotiate. they brought it down to the next level, which instead of 5 points and a possible license suspension, i got 4 points, $250 fine, $30 court fee, and i'm sure my insurance will skyrocket.

having a radar detector didn't help when i was cruising along, let my guard down for a minute, and a cop sitting in a trap flips his radar on at the last second.

so just be warned....sure they'll pay for your ticket. you give them $400, and if by some chance you get caught, have fun trying to collect the money from them, even still they are making out on the deal, and you're left paying hundreds more in insurance for the next 3 years.

passport, the manufaturer of the 8500, has an awesome integrated laser shifter/radar detector, that is fully concealed within the cars dash and bumper. It works the *****, and the 8500 actually does better in tests than the valentine one, and is much more pleasant on the eye. Call tweeter, I know they carry it, they'll be able to tell you the specs on it, I'm feeling kind of lazy right now.

Why cant we just forget anyone ever made up a thing called the speed limit...We just drive normally and if we speed then we speed...it doesnt do any good to really enforce it becuase all it takes is to get unlucky and get caught..then what back to where you began..that would save us so much lower insurance, no radar detectors, and the police wouldnt have to do as much work and can eat more donuts..oh and think of all the trees we would save if we got rid of speed limits with out all that paper getting used...see no speed limit is good for the economy and the earth : )
