Bad reception

Okay so we all know how the lancer gets crappy reception, if I install just a simple CD/Radio head unit like a $150 one, does it help the reception or is it something else?

Crappy reception? Since when? Here is Chicagoland, it's always crystal clear, unlike with my girls G20 or my crappy rental Grand Am. Everyone I've talked to loves the radio reception on this car. Maybe Chicago stations are pushing more power than what you're getting.

As for the head making a diff, no way. If the head pushes more wattage, it might actually sound worse because you'll be amplifying the noise you're getting.

XM is the way to go for radio, but there is no way I'm going to PAY for radio. The car's got a CD player, and I use it.

After having Sirius for about 2 weeks now, it is WELL worth the ~$0.30 per day for it. Hell, the comedy stations alone are worth it. I turned on FM the other day for the hell of it and all the damn comercials drove me nuts. I'm done with FM.....

if you switch to an aftermarket radio, you'll typically get a little better fm reception and a little worse am reception. look for a radio with a good signal to noise ratio to cut down on the possible noise you'll be getting.
