alright guys, I know it's been a while, but I know I can count on you guys to help me out here. I already have my amp, wiring, etc for my system. on of my subs died a few months back, and my second one died last week. I have $300 (give or take $25 or so) to spend, and I'm looking for 2 12's, good quality, lotsa bump. what would you all suggest?
thanks for any help you can throw my way,
Drew

A pair of Adire Audio Shiva's fit the bill, and the price. Hell, they even leave you $50 to get some materials to build a box.

I was checking out the adire audio shiva 12's, and comparing them to the subs I had found and was probably my top choice (Infinity Kappa 120.3 DVC). I dunno a whole lot aout the shiva's, but I see that their specs are a little on the low end...db rating of 88. I understand that these are really good subs, from what I hear really good SQ. the 120.3 DVC intinitys are 94 db, and the drop down to 18Hz (up to 50). is the boosted SQ of the shiva's worth a 6 db difference?
Check out the Audiobahn 1200Q's I have two of them in my car and they sound great. Plus you can get them on ebay for like 80 bucks plus shipping. Also I don't know how many watts your amp is but these subs can handle 700 watts R.M.S. So they are pretty decent.
The shiva will actually be louder. It moves more air, simple as that.
The Infinity you mentioned has a 13.5mm Xmax where the Shiva has a 16.6mm Xmax. The infinity will move 1.325 liters of air in a given stroke of the cone. The Shiva on the other hand will move 1.59 liters of air, quite a difference.
The sensitivity issue comes down to a moot point. Yes, the Infinity is a little more sensitive, but with car amps being as cheap as they are for as much power as they make, it's not really worth looking at.
In my opinion, the Shiva sounds better, and the fact is, it will be louder. Don't dissapoint yourself Drew... Get the Shiva ;-)

my only concern is that the amp I have at the moment isn't all that great...it only goes down to 35 Hz...I plan to upgrade it when I get a chance, but I'm also not too sure I'll be able to wire these up to 4 ohms which may cause a problem. regardless, I do believe I"ll be ordering these within a day or two (hopefully tonight), I'll let you all know how they sound once they're hooked up!
