have you heard the strokers? they are a great sub. they are just for the feel though, you will have to get other speakers to round it out. but if you want bass performance then they are the best. like i already said.

i have the infinity componants in my lancer and the sound good. But one of my friends has the alpine componants and they good too but i think a little better then the infinities. the polk momo
aren't that great another one of my friends has those and both the infinities and the apline sound better. but it always comes down to the headunit you got.

You can put 1000 dollar componants in your car but you will not be using there full potential if you dont have an amp and a good after market head unit. I have Diamond Audio M6's running off of a Alpine 4 channel and a Eclipse 5vlt deck and my components sound AMAZING but I have put over a grand in that part alone not to mention that I have 2 10' Diamond MacDaddys running off of a 1000D' amp. In the end you get what you pay for and in order to get crisp sound you need to deliver power but not just power but CLEAN power and to do that you need to have a deck and amp.

I want the Infiniti's but I hear there is a fitting issue with the Kappa's in the rear deck. Those of you who have them, did you have to make any special arrangements to fit the 6-3/4 Kappas in the rear deck???

I know for a fact Strokers dont have that many if any records......Looking at the records for the largest Competition format which is DB Drag i couldnt find one record that was made with Strokers.......they are an alright sub but for extreme bass they are not......proves how you cant believe everything you see on the internet...

Strokers used to be the way to go... and they still work well in a large ported enclosure. But today there are far more choices for subs that get louder and stay much clearer than a stroker. The advances have been hand over fist recently.

Now, with that said, I know this isn't a sub post, and he's asking about components. Personally I like Crystal for a less expensive solution. If I had some more cash, I'd run some DynAudio, or Focal sets, or maybe Adire or Digital Designs mid with a really nice silk tweet. Drivers, especially mids and highs are really difficult to help someone with, as they sound different to everyone.

Go with what your ear tells you is the best. Not your wallet.

The speakers are not the problem. The application of power and the box design are the key. I used to work with a guy who sold Fultron speakers. these are 40 bucks a pair. But when he went to competitions, he pulled 167 db in the 200w class and had four 10 inch subs. he ran with two 75 watt amps designed to work specifically with these speakers and built the box to exacting tolerances with many years of experience and troubleshooting. the rms power is what to look for when buying any speaker. the other thing to look for is mounting depth. Kenwood has a model line where the magnet is only like 1/2" deep, but still is as powerful as the huge magnet.

Blocking out unwanted signals is a good idea as well. Having a 5" speaker trying to reproduce 30Hz will kill it. some high end HUs have built in X-over and work fine. a 6.5" should be capable of 40Hz, but that is not recommended in my book, have a seperate subwoofer to take care of that. component systems are the best with seperate amps. they need to be supplied with plenty of power. its better to have too much power and turn down the amo thanhave insufficient power with a maxed out amp that has distortion. when an amp is at max power it is saturated and has distortion.

very good description, i agree. the way to get a crystal clear system is to have loads of power. that way at low volumes your system won't be straining to produce sound. and at high volumes, you wont' get distortion.

if you want really good soud....my friend has image dynamics horn tweeters in his stang. they can take 100W rms. he's got 25 running to them. that's a lot for tweeters. the frequency range of these things is 500-20kHz. they are SICK. we had the car on one side of a football stadium parking lot, while we listened at the other end. it was loud and clear as day. but they are quite large and pretty hard to install.

ID Horns are the sheezy... but they're also $700+ for a set. I'd run them if I could afford them. Sadly enough... I've even got the location planned in my car if ever I can afford them... If you have any questions about ID products, Matt is the man to ask. You can catch him on the Termpro forums, or on AIM as ImageDynamicsTek

(Personally I run a pair of Image Dynamics IDMAX 12's... so Matt and I have had some pretty long discussions on enclosure design, amps and other interesting topics.)

I have some MB quarts, love em. I also have an alpine "dead head" head unit, and a soundstream amp. I need to update my profile. Mb quarts are great, but you have to have a sub, they just don't push much of any kind of bass at all. My JL subs, push pretty hard w. the MB quarts, my front set of MB's was about 1g alone, expensive but it was all worth it. I don't know what the DB's, SQ, or SPL is, but I bought them on what they sounded like, not what kind of awards I would win. If you got the money, Boston or MB for sure, but the kappa's are a good speaker as well.
