200-300 will get you a decent new HU, but you'll need at least 200-300 more for the changer, at least 100 for the speakers, 50 for a sub, 50 for a box, 25 for wires, and about 125 for an amp, not to mention wire connectors or adaptors.

i'd recommend pioneer for the whole thing. great bang for your buck and good sound quality. use www.pricegrabber.com for pricing.

Spend your money on a really good head unit. That is the most improtant part of the system. As you save up more money then you can start to puchase aftermarket mids, highs, subs, amps and all the other fun stuff that goes along with it.

agreed... HU makes a HUGE difference. don't cheap out on stuff, because you will be disappointed in the long run. save up some more money then buy things gradually.

Get the head unit (deck), when you buy one make sure it is compadable with a disc changer. then you can spend your full budget on a really good deck and when you have more you can add a cd changer. Or you could just get one that play's MP3's and you wouldnt really need the changer.

I'd stay away from Sony. I never have had any luck with there headunits. Due to faulty wiring in the headunit, one caught on fire on me as I drove down the road. Sony
