Amp not working

I had my amp hooked up for a few weeks and then decided to get a capacitor. I hooked up the cap and the amp just fine but now the amp won't work and the cap will. It has a little red light on it that tells you it is getting power and the light isn't on, but when I check the connections with a volt meter everything is in place. I have all quality connections and it shows power going in but the amp just doesn't respond. I'm hoping I didn't ruin something during the install, but the amp has fuses on the outside and those are still intact so I don't see how it would have ruined something internally on the amp, any ideas?

I don't have my camera right now. The amp is getting power for sure, and it is also deffinately grounded well, I checked it with the volt meter.

Umm. Check your in and out. Youknow positive to positive and negative to negative. Make sure they run from the amp to the cap and are the same. I know i mixed up my wires not even knowing it when i hooked up mine. Also is your amp cross over light on?

I have a power wire from the battery into the positive on the cap, and one from the positive on the cap to the amp power, and a ground from the negative on the cap and from the ground on the amp, there are no lights working on the amp.

Yes I just double checked. One thing I'm an idiot for forgetting to mention is that something came with the capacitor that looks like a fuse but I didn't think I needed it and the cap is working anyway. I just getting absolutly no response from the amp at all.

try this. take a small piece of wire. and run it from your remote prong on the amp and run the other end into the 12 volt spot. Do this and let me know what happens.

to get power to your amp you have to charge the cap properly. the fuse that came with the cap is designed to charge the cap slowly, then lights up when charged. you can also take the power wire and tap the positive post slowly, charging it. take a volt meter to check the charge.

NO all it does is run direct power to your amp. Also i forgot about that. did you charge the cap?

Crow: that wouldnt cause the amp not to turn on tho would it. because the current would still flow just wouldnt have the extra power from the cap right?

OK now the red light on the other side of the amp lights up, I didn't know anything about charging the cap but the digital readout on top is staying around 13.4 which is what the amp used to read before when it would turn on.
