New Lancer Owner - Car System

http://members.cardomain.com/moondawg1982

This is a picture of my old system in my old 97 Nissan Altima that I had before I purchased the Lancer. I had way too much bass in that car. I also had Boston Acoustic speakers all inside which I am putting in the lancer.

This time I only want to use one 12" Eclipse in a box 9.5 x 13 x 21. That box will give me a little more than a cube since I am using 3/4 mdf. I also want to put my two amps behind this box so I can access them from the back seat. I will have more truck space in this set up.

Before I do this I am going to use FATMAT inside the trunk and maybe the back dash to help with SQ.

Does anyone have any amp rack pics that were done so you can access them from the back seat? I was thinking about putting a trim panel with white vinyl on it.

Any suggestions?

too much bass just means you need more power to your speakers to ballance it out I have racks for my amps but not accessable from the backseats (evo seats dont fold down) here is a link to the pics

Not quite sure why you would want to climb around in your back seat to mess with gains or adjust the amps seems like it would be much easier from the trunk but I'm sure there are plenty of options to do that.

As you can see it the other set up I really could never adjust my amps. In fact I never did after I had it installed.

I had 100 x 4 for my inside speakers. It was plenty loud inside my car but those Eclipse 12s really pound.

I'm just using a single Eclipse 10" in my Lancer and I love it. I think a single 12" would do just fine. I'm getting ready to do some fiberglass work in my trunk, so I don't have any pics to share yet. But keep looking around on here...several people have some really clean setups. Judging by your old setup, I think you'll turn out something nice. Good luck.

How much Dynamat did you use? I see some installed on the sides. I was wondering how much rattle I should expect with this 1 12". I had so much installed in my old setup and I dont know if I need that much since I only have one.

The trunk lid was the biggest problem as far as rattles went, so I used two rolls of extreme on the lid, and one trunk kit for sides and the bottom. My stuff isn't competition by any means but it hits hard enough for me with no rattle at all heard on the inside of the car, but on the outside you can hear the rear end vibrating a little, but in my opinion unless you entirely seal the trunk with foam and **** these little cars are always gonna rattle on the outside. I mean, people's lancers with no subs rattle due to crappy suspension.

Can anyone tell me how much dynamat I should put in the rear? I had over 40lbs of it in my old Nissan and I dont think I want that much this time.

Thanks

I just had my system installed. Here are the pics. The system weighs about 130lbs with the box and trim panels. There are blue neons lights on top that light up.

It is amazing how much it dropped my rear end. I bet at the same time it slowed my car down a bit.

Should the CD player stick that far out. I really dont like the way that looks.

Nice setup.

As far as the deck goes, mine does too but I'm going to re-drill the ISO mount screws soon. This is just to bring it back just a bit. Or out so I can put the trim plate on. Not quite sure yet.

Very clean setup! How does it sound? I'm a bit confused about the head unit though...I have an Alpine similar to yours (mine is a CDA-9830...yours is a 9831, right?) and it doesn't stick out at all. ???

Well to honest I am posting in the wrong thread. This is in a 2004 Ralliart. I decided to put it in this is because it has a section devoted to car audio and there are more people in the lancer thread. I wanted as many opinions as possible. Thank you all for the comments. I love clean looking systems. To what it cost to make a trim panel it is well worth it.

I feel that Boston Acoustic speakers are well worth the price. My front Rally comps that I got in 2000 still sound very good. I have a set of coaxial speakers that I got earlier this year for the year. They sound excellent in this car.

I did not really do anything with the trunk pass through. Here is the pic of what it looks like behind the panel. On the right side is the 1 cube foot box. It is flushed to the panel. I have two 1 farad caps in there, a LCD Stinger fuse box. As you can see it my first set up in the Altima you were able to see all that. Since I have a smaller space to work with I have only one speaker and I hide the majority of the audio equip.
