MB Quart, Which One To Get?
And all thats fine and dandy but he's not using any of that stuff so that really doesnt help him.
Naah bro it aint a pissing contest you just think you know every thing about everything. It's all good though do your thing and I'll do mine.

for around 250 you can get a decent set of focals which should run fine off of around 75 watts RMS per channel (thats what I use and its perfect) I wouldn't suggest running 150 watts to most speakers there are only a few set up to handle that much power and the clean ones are certianly going to run a lot more than 250 bucks
I'm partial to focals they are my personal fav but MB quarts like you were thinking would sound good too.

Gain is not a volume control, but by setting an underlap, you can reduce output and gain headroom, safely "overpowering" speakers. An Evo is rated 271 HP, you only see that at certain RPM with a set throttle position, etc. Amp power figures are almost completely bogus anyway.
I also would never run components off head unit power. You will never see more than 20 watts from deck power. Run that to the passive xover and you just absorbed half of that. 10 watts is almost overkill for a tweeter, but no where near enough for a mid.
Buy a good 50x4 amp. It has a 40 amp fuse and needs an 8 gauge power wire from your battery. It will sit in an area about 10x15. Look at that 200 watt head unit. It has a clock, FM/AM Tuner, Changer Control, CD Player, many dancing lights, connects to the 10 amp fuse in your fuse block, is 7x7 inches, 1x7 being the amplifier and it's supposed to mkae 50x4?
I think the guy that sets power figures for car amps is the same guy that gives mileage figures on tires. They are both total BS.

Oh yeah, back on topic, Quart = Rockford now. When it comes to speakers, listen to them in a car and pick the ones you like best. they are like girls, one guy thinks she's hot and another thinks you're taking one for the team.
