Safc tuning
Safc tuning
ok im about to install a safc into my lancer.....my only question about it is, what is the best tuned settings to set it at...i have a few mods(intake exhast ngk plugs and wires) and i wanna know what would be the best settings to place them at?
If you have never tuned before, which sounds like you haven't, I'd try posting in your regional thread to see if there are any SAFC tuners near you, but
you only have an intake, exhaust, plugs and wires, so tuning with SAFC for your mods is really not going to be that advantageous

Unless you have a wideband, or even a narrowband, you wont really have an accurate way to gauge where your air to fuel ratio stands. The AFC is surprisingly easy to use, but be careful

lancers best air/fuel ratio as found out by RRM is around 12.8-13.0. I have an SAFC neo, if you have any questions just let me know. I can give you a little tune over the computer that would give you a little power and would be safe. But for your purposes borrowing a wideband from someone or having a shop tune it for $50-$75 would be your best bet. Tunes are no where close to being universal though so I cannot guarantee my suggestion will net you anywhere near the most power.
so should i upgrade my O2 censor as well? i have it installed right now and its doing good on a little power and better gas mileage right now....my buddy tuned it for me but should i upgrade a o2 censor as well?
Do you mean : "Should I replace my stock sensor with a wideband sensor?"
If that is the case, then the answer is no. The ECU wasn't built to communicate with a wideband sensor. You can, however, add the wideband on your downpipe and have it permanently connected to your SAFC "i think". or maybe it just connects to the wideband "gauge/reader/interface whatever the heck they call it
".
So the ECU would read the narrow band, and your SAFC would read the wideband.

no, unless you do cams, raise compression, or get something like a ported and polished head your tune will be fine. After several things like header, catback, intake and intake manifold a tune might be beneficial but is not NEEDED.
Stoich A/F ratio is 14.7. Tuning to that will gain you a little power with the mods that you have, but unless you have a wideband, or even a narrowband, you wont really have an accurate way to gauge where your air to fuel ratio stands. The AFC is surprisingly easy to use, but be careful
HELL NO. blow it up!
13:1 is what i did. Nice power!

With only a few mods, tuning isn't necessary, but you can definately up your gas mileage by a lot and with that, comes a little more power from leveling out the fuel input, correct?
I also editted that guys post just so if someone is just skimming through, they don't grab the wrong numbers. That was way off.
