Oh and i currently have a custom magnaflow exhaust installed. This car is my daily driver and i could care less about racing with it. A little hp wont hurt though so please help. Thanks.

It's an intake, stick with what you already have.

Well like you already posted Injen reports the highest gains with thier SRI Model. The CAI will cause you some installation headaches forsure with the battery placement. But that should really be your only decision... CAI or SRI ??? Should be a no brainer =)

What I did is swapped the flatbed filter for a high flow BMC and cut out the grill in the beginning for added airflow. Works much better and is a lot cheaper.

I should be getting the Injen SRI in the mail this week. I'll let you know how it goes.

Seems like this thread has been pretty quiet over the past few weeks, but I'll add my input. =P

For simplicity of install, I would go with either the K&N Typhoon or the Injen SRI. Injen's MR technology is very good, as it helps regulate airflow without you needing to retune the factor Mass Air Flow sensor (yay to no more CEL!). However, I've always had a bias towards K&N just due to their million mile warranty, and their excellent quality. I have the K&N installed on mine and it works great, no problems with installation or performance. My friend has the Injen SRI and we both highly recommend either of these intakes. In all honesty, its down to personal preference but I think that the Injen pulls out a tad bit more power than the K&N. You'll need someone else to verify my claim though. Hope that helps.

If you don't plan going for a CAI, don't change your current SRI. It's a pipe with a cone filter. The only thing you should upgrade now is your cone filter.

I had a similar setup on my Lancer 08 SE and changed the cheap RRM filter for a longer K&N filter. Keep in mind, you have a N/A, so your engine does not suck that much air.

If you read about SRI and CAI you'll find out that what helps the most is the different pipe diameter where you MAF is. Since your ECU is not aware of the larger diameter, it reads a airflow that is lower than the actual airflow thus, you car runs leaner.

You'd probably get similar results with a cheap tune but won't get the nice growl tipical to SRI/CAIs.

Hope this helps.

Well I just installed my new Injen Cold Air Induction, and with everyone that told me or posted that it would be a nightmare or that I had to relocate the battery, is complete BS. The CAI does take a lil longer to put in due to the fact you need to remove the front nose cone BUT dont let it scare you, 2.5 hrs and myself and a buddy had this completely done, including picking up our tools and gear and having a few smoke breaks inbetween. CAI is the way to go in my opinion. To me a SRI just sucks hot air from the engine bay and completly serves as a noise maker..... Now I am sure I will get bombarded by PPL with SRI intakes but thats just my OPINION... The whole point of the intake is to get MORE air, But also COLD air, hot air does not help matters at all. If you need help with taking that bumper off shoot me a PM.

Agreed, hot air is pretty useless =P but that's what heat shields are for!!! I was considering a CAI, but honestly the hassle of trying to remove the battery/mud flaps/front bumper, etc etc really intimidated me so I stuck with the Injen SRI. Surprisingly good sound quality cuz its not like the K&N where the filter pretty much aims at the driver like a gun =.=

Oh forsure, the SRI's are deffinately a lot easier to install and the heat shield does help quite a bit!! I was really surprised at how easy the front bumber comes off. I didnt have to take the battery out at all, the mud flaps stayed on as well. the inner fenders and everything stayed right in place. Theres 2 clips that need to be unsnapped in the fender wells. Then the 10 screws on top and bottom after the rad shield is removed. 2 screws in the drivers fenderwell and 1 in the passengers. Unclip the fog lights (if equipped) and pull er off. Its deffinately a 2 man job, but very do-able. I laughed when quoted it as a 6 hr job. It literally took me and a buddy 2.5 hrs and like I said we took breaks and its the first car either of us have ever removed a bumper from.

On a side note, my buddy drives a 04 RSX Type S with a K&N Typhoon SRI and his is louder them my Injen CAI. But as far as a power increase we both agreed that even with the "best" intake your not going to notice the power increase. It frees up the car a lot and allows a smoother powerband was the conclusion.
