Cant read/ write to ECU..
Cant read/ write to ECU..
Ok, so after i blew a main fuse, i replaced it, car runs fine, no problems. I can log in EvoScan so i figured the ECU is working and is ok. I go to try to Re-Flash the ECU and it wont work. It sends some sequences, then it stops and tells me it wont work.
When i blew the main fuse, the re-flash cable was not plugged into the ECU/ however the regular OBD-2 connection was, so i doubt i fried the cable because everything reports back in EvoScan with no problems. did i break the ECU? is there a relay or fuse somewhere that i may have blown before the ECU? i checked all the fuses were ok. Any ideas?!?
Here is what happens:
sending init sequence 1 (0001)
sending init sequence 1 (0003)
sending init sequence 1 (FFFF)
"no response to any known code"
Since it works in EvoScan, im thinking i shorted out the cable or something? If i shorted the ECU the car wouldnt run im pretty sure right?

Yeah it does, why would that matter j/w! Well actually let me check, becuase i also had my garman charger in the cig lighter at the time, and now that wont work, i cant find a way to open it up to see if the fuse blew in the charger unit.
EDIT:: However i can put my power inverter in the cig lighter and it powers up ok, so im guessing the cig lighter does still work

I asked that because most cars will have the fuse for the cigarette lighter also be the fuse for the obd port. I was curious if we could still log with a blown fuse but not actually extract or write information. It was a shot in the dark

Alright bro, so i tried to read from the galant ECU and got the same exact code. What do you think? should i try a cable first? the OBD-2 connection smeels really bad, like a bad battery, its horrible
Is there anyway of testing my ecu to confirm its a bad cable?EDIT:: Opened up my tactrix cable by removing the exterior plastic. Once i opened it up i saw the things on the circuit board that just plain fried out, big black spot with a line going through it on one side, and on the other, one peice of metal actually melted. Ill post pics in the morning!
