Is my Lancer a gts?
Is my Lancer a gts?
Recently got a 2010 Lancer about 3 months ago. The car is used with 12,000 miles and the salesman claimed it to be the GTS model. It had a stock spoiler, an exhaust tip, and paddle shifters. The only thing is, under the hood the engine sticker says it is a 2.0 liter engine. GTS engines are 2.4. Is the sticker wrong? or is my car not a GTS?
Thanks in advance

check the engine code that is engraved where the oil filter is mounted.
open you hood and look down in the space in between the radiator and the plastic intake manifold.
you should see a piece of metal that has the oil filter below it.
on that piece of metal there should be one of three codes
4b10 is the 1.8L
4b11 is the 2.0L
4b12 is the 2.4L
post a pic of your engine bay and i might be able to tell based on the engine cover.

I have a 2009 GTS and it is a 2.4 litre. There's no way that a 2010 is a 2.0 litre. A picture of the engine, as suggested before would definitely solve this issue. I'd also be interested in hearing what the other section of the forum said was the issue...
in 2008 the gts did come with the 2.0 4B11. 2009+ gts's had the 2.4 4B12. Both the 4B11 gts and the 4b12 gts came with paddle shifters as standard equipment.
In 2009 there was the ES and the ES SPORT. both had the 4B11 but the ES sport had the exterior styling of a GTS with the front airdams, side skirts, rear spoiler, and exhaust finisher standard. What the ES SPORT didn't have that the GTS did was 18in alloy wheels, front strut bar, and paddle shifters. (it also had larger front and rear swaybars and larger front and rear brake disks than the ES SPORT)
However, you can install paddles on 2008-2010 de's and es's equipped with the CVT. All you need to do is find a set of paddles for a gts and install them yourself. You can also install the floor shifter from a GTS, both paddles and floor shifter are plug and play and will allow you to go into sport mode.
But in the US, the 2008+ ES never came with paddle shifters.
thats weird. you do have a gts because of the paddles, but if you think you have a 2.0 engine than you may have bought a 2008 gts

Late response but the engine code is 4B12 so it does suggests that I have a 2.4 GTS. It just ticks me off because under the hood, the sticker which the manufacturer puts on says 2.0 L but the rest of the car's interior and exterior suggested otherwise. Thanks all who helped, feel free to keep on posting. Helps a lot!
